DT / DelTang DSM2 Micro High Voltage DSM2 Receivers for Land-Based Use

UK designed and manufactured DSM2/DSMX ultra micro 2.4GHz high voltage (> 10V) receivers for land based applications: cars, boats, trains, ... All are compatible with the Spektrum DSM2/DSMX Air and DSM2 Surface modulation types and have a bi-directional ESC ('H') and servo or switch outputs ('P'), all of which may be programmed to suit your need. Either a stick type transmitter or PROG3 may be used for configuring the receiver settings.

P outputs are 0V when off, 3V when on and can supply up to 20mA - great for driving LEDs or servos. F outputs are open-drain switches capable of up to 2A. Only the Rx65 has F outputs. If you need to switch high current or an external circuit (e.g. sound trigger) from Rx60. Rx61, Rx62 or Rx63 then an add-on FET buffer is available.

* The ESC max current is specified without a heatsink (as supplied). The max current (at 13V for Rx60, Rx61 and Rx63) can be increased by the addition of an aluminium heatsink plate the same size as the receiver circuit board, or larger.

The -22 variant of Rx6x receivers provides a Selecta feature to enable control of multiple receivers from a single transmitter. Selecta allows models to be brought in and out of service via the transmitter without touching them.


Rx60 DSM2/DSMX 13V 6 Channel Receiver with Bi-Directional ESC

Rx60 is a 6 channel (1.3A ESC, 5 aux chan) DSM2/DSMX compatible micro receiver designed for use in surface vehicle: cars, boats and train locomotives. The receiver is designed to operate from 3-13v DC. This allows it to be used with many battery combinations. 1S, 2S and 3S lipos are common choices (3S = 3 cells in series), 3-8 NiMH or a PP3. The motor output (H1) can supply up to 1.3A when the motor is stalled at 100% throttle.

The receiver is available as a bare board with 2.54mm pad space for ease of soldering and as a wired version. The latter has lead-out wires installed for battery and motor (H1).

Rx6x Receiver Features

Rx60 is intended for surface vehicles which require forward and reverse motor control. The H-Bridge bidirectional motor output is abbreviated H1. The H1 ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) has 256 step resolution in both directions (512 total). It controls speed with PWM which by default is set to its fastest (quietest) 16kHz setting.

The H1 configuration is determined by the selected receiver variant - see the Variants tab for details of each variant. The default for variants -2 and -22 is to control both speed and direction using channel 1, which is the throttle knob on DT Tx20, Tx21 and Tx22. If you prefer a full-range throttle control on channel 1 with separate direction switch on channel 3, then select the 'full-range and dir switch' option when specifying your receiver.

The H1 output can handle up to 1.3A current without heat sinking at voltages between 3 and 13v. Current is measured with motor stalled. The main constraint with current is heat in the receiver. Higher currents may be possible if a heatsink is added and is helped with the 120Hz PWM frequency. The receiver is built with 20v components. It should be possible to use it a little above 13v but this would require lower motor currents and/or heat-sinking. Induced voltages may be higher than the power source so it would not be wise to try to use it anywhere close to 20v.

P outputs are 'pads' with 'logic' or type outputs. Pads are simply solder points for controlling external things. Logic outputs are either on or off (also known as high/low and 3.3v/0v in voltage terms). The action can be inverted so 'On' can mean 0v or 3.3v. P outputs may also used to provide servo signals direct to the white/yellow lead on a servo.

P outputs can be used to directly control triggers on external sound cards. They may also used to drive LEDs with a series resistor to limit current to no more than 20mA. The behaviour of a P output can be configured by programming the receiver.

The Rx60 receiver is available in 7 variants to suit model usage and type of transmitter. 'Variants' are simply 'configurations' or combinations of receiver settings to match common needs. Although these are described as 'car/train/boat', any variant can be used for anything. All receiver settings can be changed in a process called 'programming'.

The Rx60 settings can be changed in the usual fashion via waggling the sticks of a standard Tx or the PROG3 / PROG4 programmer may be used. Rx65 DSM2/DSMX 18V Receiver with 3A Bi-Directional ESC

Rx65 is a 2.4GHz DSM2/DSMX receiver which includes one integrated 3A reversable controller for brushed motors (ESC). The standard voltage range is 3-18v for 1-4S LiPo, 1-5 LiFe, 3-12 NiCd/NiMH or 1-2 PP3. The design allows for 'daughter boards' to extend the capability: two are curently available with additional output drivers for single and bidirectional ESC.

Rx6x Receiver Features

Rx65 is available as board-only for you to add wiring or with a range of pre-configured daughter boards and pre-wired leads / connectors. The daughter board can be used to increase the ESC current to 6A or to provide a second 3A ESC. If the options below do not exactly meet your needs, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Rx102 Receiver

Rx102 is a simple 7 channel receiver for model railway use on large electric and live-steam locomotives. It can drive speed controllers, servos, directional lights, etc. It supports Selecta for use with Tx22 and Tx24.

Rx102 is ideal for live-steam, using servos to control regulator and reverser, and for large electric locos with motors requiring more than the 6A that the Rx65 can supply. Rx102 can be used with many of our brushed or brushless speed controllers.

Rx102 is designed for use with any of the DT transmitters Tx20, Tx21, Tx22, Tx24 and may also be configured for use as loco 2 or 3 with the Tx23 (enquire for details). Selecta is disabled by default but easily enabled using the supplied jumper plug.

Rx102 is available with a standard short wire aerial and also with an extended co-axial aerial (select using the menu near the 'Add to Cart' button). The latter is useful for use in all metal locomotives to allow the active part of the aerial to be placed outside the body. Many Rx102 features may be configured using a jumper link across the receiver pins and each output is individually changed using Prog3 or Prog4 (programming instructions). Rx102 cannot be programmed using a Tx. If you do not have a programmer and need a non-standard configuration, please contact us before purchase.

Programmer for Rx4x 'v5' and Rx6x Receivers (PROG3)

PROG3 is used to change settings in Rx4x 'v5' (from v5.10) and Rx6x (from v6.10) receivers. Changes are made on PROG3 and sent through to the Rx with the push of a button.

All Rx6x receivers can be programmed using a standard DSM2 transmitter - i.e. one with control sticks. The PROG3 is only required for programming if you don't have a standard TX.

Receivers with firmware version at v6.10 and up can be programmed using this programmer. Instructions for using PROG3 are located here.

All current stock has firmware with support for PROG3. Rx6x receivers with firmware older than V6.10 require PROG1 - please contact us if you have a Rx6x receiver with older firmware. If you are unsure of your receiver's firmware version, take a look at the smaller IC package on the circuit board; it will be marked with the 3 version digits - e.g. "6 0 3" for version v6.0.3.

Serial Programmer for Rx4x 'v5' and Rx6x Receivers (PROG4)

Prog4 is a programmer for DT land-based receivers (Rx4x-v5 and Rx6x). It is used with a computer to change program settings. Prog4 creates a wireless link between the computer and the receiver. A low-cost serial cable (not included) and freeware file transfer software (not included) are required.

Suitable PL-2303 USB adapter cables are available from many suppliers. Be aware that many of these do not contain genuine Prolific PL-2303 chips and may result in driver warnings / errors, especially on Windows 10.
