DSM2 Model Railway Controller Kits

All transmitter kits are currently not available due to Deltang discontinuing the Tx2 transmit module. Our intention is to make kit version of the Micron transmitters which now use the MT01 module. Availability of kits is waiting on time to write the build documentation and this could take some time. If you need a kit and are OK with scant/minimal build instructions, then please get in touch.

These are kit versions of the model rail R/C transmitters. All are based on the original Deltang designs, some with the addition of front panel labels and additional build notes.

Ready to use model rail transmitters are available here.

The kits can be built by anyone with some electrical / electronic soldering experience. The assembly task is primarily wiring the controls to the Tx2 module pins. You will need to provide: hookup wire, contact adhesive and solder. A soldering iron with a small tip should be used to make the connections. The box requires drilling to fit the controls.

Tx20 Kit

Tx20 is hand-held train DSM2 controller with one speed control, three push-button controls and one 3-way switch. For use with Rx41d-2-v5 (1 lipo) or Rx6x-2 (1-4 lipos). The battery is not included.

View the info sheet for the Tx20 kit.

Tx20 can be used to program Deltang receivers using the 3-way toggle switch to step through programming levels. Programming details for each receiver may be accessed from the web page for the receiver.

Please select throttle type using the menu below.:
Throttle Type:
centre-off throttle with detent£0.00
low-off throttle without detent and 3-way direction switch£0.00

£ 30.00

Tx21 Kit

Tx21 is hand-held train DSM2 controller using the Tx2 module. Controls for speed, direction, inertia and lights. Tx21 is presented as a 3-channel transmitter although requires the use of Channel 5 for some features (Channels 2 and 4 are not used). The battery is not included.

View the info sheet for the Tx21 kit.

Tx21 can not be used to program Deltang receivers.

Please select throttle type using the menu below.:
Throttle:
centre-off throttle with detent£0.00
low-off throttle without detent£0.00

£ 30.00

Tx22 Kit

This is the original Deltang Tx22 in kit form with a self-adhesive front panel label. The Tx22 implements the DT 'Selecta' feature to allow switching control between up to 12 receivers. All Deltang Rx6x, Rx43d-v5 and Rx45-v5 receivers may be programmed to use Selecta and are available with Selecta pre-configured (-22 option).

View the info sheet for the kit. Tx22 can be used to program Deltang receivers but this requires a special configuration of the Inertia knob, the Tx22 info page shows how to do this.

Please select throttle and toggle switch type using the menus below.:
Throttle:
centre-off throttle with detent£0.00
low-off throttle without detent£0.00
Toggle Switch:
self-centred toggle switch£0.00
latching toggle switch£0.00

£ 38.00

Tx23 Kit

Tx23 is compact 3-train DSM2 controller using the Tx2 module. Controls for speed, direction and inertia. If you control less than 3 engines or don't use the direction switches for that, then you can control lights or other features. Tx23 is presented as a 6-channel transmitter but requires the use of Channel 7 (Channel 4 is not used). The battery is not included.

Tx23 can not be used to program Deltang receivers.

Tx24 Kit

This is the original Deltang Tx24 in kit form, there is no front-panel label as the box size and layout does not allow space for legends around the controls. The Tx24 is the same as Tx22 but with Direction switch changed to a knob (pot). The Inertia knob can be made to control a channel so the Speed, Direction and Inertia knobs can control up to 3 channels in a proportional manner (eg: for live steam). The Tx24 implements the DT 'Selecta' feature to allow switching control between up to 3 receivers. All Deltang Rx6x, Rx43d-v5 and Rx45-v5 receivers may be programmed to use Selecta and are available with Selecta pre-configured (-22 option).

Tx72 Kit

This is the original Deltang Tx72 in kit form, there is no front-panel label as the box size and layout does not allow space for legends around the controls. An enhanced ready-to-use version of Tx72 is also available.

Tx72 is hand-held 2.4GHz DSM2 transmitter for model railway control. It is similar to the Tx22 with the addition of a 12 way switch and trigger buttons for accessing the menu functions in Rx47 and Rx6x receivers. The Tx72 'Menu' function comprises a 12 way rotary switch and T1/T2 trigger buttons all controlling channel 7. Compatible receivers must have the Menu feature enabled using the 'paper clip' method of connecting P2 and P4 together, applying power and then removing the connection.

The Menu controls are only useful when used with Rx47, Rx60, Rx61, Rx62, Rx65 and Rx66 which have extended programmable functionality. It allows outputs to be switched on/off and settings in the receiver changed from the transmitter. The Menu functionality available for each receiver is described in the programming instructions for that receiver. Each position of the transmitter 12 way switch can make up to 3 things happen in the receiver:

  • the position of the switch can trigger an action directly - a 0.8s delay is implemented so that quick movements of the rotary switch do not immediately invoke the action;
  • each position can have 2 more actions associated with it and triggered using T1 and T2; these have no time delay
